1.1 This part 2 of IEC 60730 applies to electrically operated oil valves for use in, on or inassociation with equipment for household and similar use that use electricity, in combinationwith fuel in the liquid state such as distillates, residual fuels, etc. This part 2 also applies to electrically operated oil valves using NTC or PTC thermistors, requirements for which are contained in annex J.1.1.1 This standard applies to the inherent safety, to the operating values, operating times, and operating sequences where such are associated with equipment safety, and to the testingof electrically operated oil valves used in, or in association with, household or similarequipment, but also extended to industrial purposes where no dedicated product standardexists, such as that for central heating, air conditioning, process heating, etc. This part 2 is also applicable to controls for appliances within the scope of IEC 60335-1.Throughout this part 2 the word "equipment" means "appliance and equipment".This part 2 does not apply to electrically operated oil valves designed exclusively for industrialapplications.Electrically operated oil valves for equipment not intended for normal household use, but whichnevertheless may be used by the public, such as equipment intended to be used by laymen inshops, in light industry and on farms, are within the scope of this part 2.This part 2 identifies a number of mechanical features as "under consideration". Until thesemechanical requirements are incorporated in this part 2, each country using this part 2 willhave to quantify these requirements.Compliance of an electrically operated oil valve with this part 2 does not imply that the valve is acceptable withoutfurther tests for these mechanical features.1.1.2 This part 2 applies to manual controls when such are electrically and/or mechanicallyintegral with electrically operated oil valves.Requirements for manual switches not forming part of an electrically operated oil valve are contained inIEC 61058-1.This part 2 does not apply to electrically operated oil valves of nominal connection size aboveDN 150.Hereinafter, the term "valve" is used to denote an electrically operated oil valve (includingprime mover and valve body).1.1.3 An electric actuator that is submitted to the testing laboratory in combination with an oilvalve will be evaluated under this part 2. A separate electric actuator is evaluated underIEC 60730-2-14, which provides particular requirements for electric actuators.1.1.4 This part 2 also applies to valves utilized as part of a system, or valves mechanicallyintegral with multifunctional controls.
1.1 These requirements cover antenna rotators intended for household and commercial use on supplycircuits in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.1.2 An antenna rotator generally consists of:a) A mast-mounted (generally outdoors), motorized drive unit that rotates the antenna to thedesired receiving azimuth,b) An indoor-located (usually near television- or radio-receiving equipment) user-operatedcontrol unit that delivers operating power and direction signals to the drive unit, and,c) A length of multiple-conductor Class-2 circuit cable to electrically interconnect the drive unitand the control unit. Some antenna rotating units may control antenna elevation separately or in addition to azimuth. In some cases, the drive unit may be located indoors.1.3 The power used to drive the motor of an antenna rotator is derived from a circuit complying with Class 2 limitations in accordance with Article 725 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.1.4 These requirements do not cover systems that use a stationary antenna and change or rotate thereceiving pattern by electronic or switching means. Such systems are covered by the Standard forAudio-Video Products and Accessories, UL 1492.
The following changes in requirements are being proposed: 1. Revised Label Requirements for Household Storage Tank Water Heater when Connected to a Supplemental Heat Source.
These revisions are to the UL 296 proposals announced in the March 18, 2005 issue of ANSI's "Standards Action.
Automatic Electrical Controls for Household and Similar Use.Part 2: Particular Requirementsfor Burner Ignition Systems and Components
1.1 These requirements cover self-contained drinking-water coolers which employ hermetic refrigerantmotor-compressors and which are designed for connection to alternating-current circuits rated not greaterthan 600 volts in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70. The requirements also apply towater coolers which supply both hot and cold water.1.2 These requirements do not include additional requirements applicable to equipment designed for usein hazardous locations as defined in the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.1.3 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or differentfrom those covered by the requirements in this standard, and that involves a risk of fire, electric shock, orinjury to persons shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-productrequirements as determined necessary to maintain the acceptable level of safety as originally anticipatedby the intent of this standard. A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, orsystems conflict with specific requirements or provisions of this standard cannot be judged to comply withthis standard. Where considered appropriate, revision of requirements shall be proposed and adopted inconformance with the methods employed for development, revision, and implementation of this standard.
